2026 Annual Conference Extension Proposal Submission
Ends on
We invite you to organize an SMS Extension for the 2026 SMS Annual Conference! Extensions are one-day, focused workshop-style events designed to explore key aspects of the conference theme, translate the Six Big Questions of Strategic Management into actionable insights, and engage local scholars and practitioners who may not otherwise attend the Annual Conference.
Extensions may be held:
- In person, at a venue within 1–2 hours of the 2026 SMS Annual Conference location, or
- Virtually, using a platform managed by the organizers.
Format & Timing Requirements:
- One-day event (6–8 hours; virtual events may be shorter)
- Held within 3 days before or after the conference (virtual events may occur up to 10 days prior)
- No Extensions may take place during the Annual Conference
- No call for proposals or submissions from participants
Proposal Review Criteria: Submitted proposals must demonstrate:
- Clear alignment with the 2026 conference theme
- Connection to one or more of the Six Big Questions of Strategic Management
- Meaningful practitioner involvement (e.g., site visits, practitioner-led sessions, academic–practitioner panels)
- A credible and actionable plan to engage a local audience (scholars, students, practitioners, and industry leaders)
A very limited number of Extensions (approximately 4–5) will be selected by the Conference Program Chairs in collaboration with SMS Board committee representatives.
Submission Deadline:
All proposals must be submitted through this form by February 18, 2026. You will be asked to provide details on organizers, theme, date, location, format, and anticipated costs. For full guidelines, please visit the Extensions page on the SMS website.
