This role requires strong leadership skills, strategic vision, and expertise in media and communications. The ideal candidate will be adept at fostering collaboration and driving results in a volunteer-driven environment.

The Media Chair will act as a key liaison, ensuring media initiatives align with the Society’s broader goals and priorities. The Chair will also work with the Media Taskforce to recruit and oversee a team of volunteers with diverse expertise, forming the foundation of the SMS Media Team.

  • Ensuring high-quality content production and distribution across SMS platforms.
  • Organizing the vast intellectual content of the SMS, including video abstracts, journal articles and other knowledge-based materials more accessible on the web.
  • Identifying opportunities for external content placement to enhance SMS’s visibility and reputation.

4. Public Relations and Outreach:

This is a volunteer leadership position requiring an estimated time commitment of 8-10 hours per month, with occasional additional responsibilities based on project timelines and deliverables. The Media Chair will work closely with the Media Taskforce, SMS Board, and other committees to ensure cohesive efforts. The Chair is expected to bring creative ideas and forward-thinking strategies to advance SMS’s media presence.

Candidates should have the following qualifications:
